Keeping Busy During Deployment

I think the #1 tip I could give to any military spouse about a deployment is to keep busy!  When you are not busy you are more likely to be sad and to dwell on him being away.  Being busy looks different to different people.  Some choose to go back to school or get a job.  Others like to travel, volunteer or just get together with friends.

When  you have children there are lots of ways to stay busy.  Kids love getting out and seeing wherever it is you live.  They love nature and animals.  So if nothing else I try to take the kids somewhere new.  Living in Germany has been a great way to experience some new things.  My boys loving riding on the train and seeing new parts of Europe.  And it literally makes time fly!!!

Sometimes it is easy to not want to get out there while your husband is gone.  You might feel like he will miss out on it.  And sadly that happens.  But go for it!  When he is home you can always go back and see those things again :)
